As the New York State Program Assistant, Alex works closely with the Hudson Valley Farmlink Network (HVFN) and the Hudson Valley Farmland Finder website. In this role she provides one-on-one technical assistance and support to farmers and non-farming landowners in the Hudson Valley.
A native of New York, Alex grew up riding and actively showing horses all over the state and the northeast. She carried this on to her college career competing on the Intercollegiate Western Equestrian Team for Alfred University. Alex graduated from Alfred in 2016 where she majored in Environmental Studies. After graduation she worked for 2 years with the Adirondack Watershed Institute Stewardship Program, collecting data on and helping to spread awareness about aquatic invasive species. More recently, she established a sound knowledge of agricultural conservation easements as an intern with the Agricultural Stewardship Association, and HVFN partner. This internship drove her to pursue a career with an agricultural land trust. Agriculture has always had and continues to have a huge influence on Alex and she is thrilled to get the chance to work with the Hudson Valley Farmlink Network and the American Farmland Trust and peruse this passion!
