Your Chefs for the Evening
Chef Matt Jennings
Matt Jennings, originally from Boston, has spent decades honing his craft and pursuing his passion for sustainable food. Matt attended the New England Culinary Institute and transitioned through various chef positions before opening Farmstead in October 2003. Through the creation of Farmstead, an artisan cheese and specialty gourmet shop, Matt and his wife Kate were able to emphasize the importance and need for family-owned farms and small-batch artisan producers. Matt and Kate returned to Boston in 2015 to open Townsman, a brasserie-inspired restaurant where they serve up award-winning, sustainable cuisine.
Matt has been named one of the 40 Under 40 Big Thinkers in the food industry by Food & Wine, voted as one of Mother Nature Network’s Most Sustainable Chefs, and was a finalist for James Beard Foundation Best Chef Northeast award numerous times. Recently, Esquire magazine named Townsman one of the best new restaurants in the country.
Chef Ron Abell
Ron Abell brings a wealth of culinary experience to his role as Senior Executive Chef at Fenway park. Previously with two of Boston’s most iconic restaurants, Biba and Maison Robert, he also served as Executive Chef at the famed Icarus in Boston’s fashionable South End.
He is an active member of the Chef’s Collaborative, a national network of food professionals who promote sustainable cuisine by extolling the joys of local, seasonal, and artisanal cooking.
