Farms and ranches have a major role to play in combating climate change. We cannot hope to lower atmospheric carbon to the level needed unless we pursue two interconnected strategies across California: retain enough farmland and manage it well.
Leading up to a new state government as well as a new year, we felt it important to outline our state policy priorities and extend our partnership to Governor-elect Newsom. We invite you to learn about our 2019 policy priorities for farmland protection and climate-smart agriculture in our letter to the governor.
As you’ll see from our priorities, there is still a lot of work to be done to secure the future of California agriculture—work that cannot be done alone. In the year ahead, your collaboration will be essential to helping us make these priorities a reality, so keep an eye out for ways to get involved.
