Including American Farmland Trust in Your Will

Specific Bequest

If you wish to leave an exact amount of cash, property, or other assets to American Farmland Trust, we recommend that you incorporate the following language into your will or
living trust:

“I give and bequeath to American Farmland Trust, a District of Columbia nonprofit corporation, having its principal offices at 1200 18th Street, N.W., Suite 800, Washington, D.C. 20036, the sum of $_____.”

Residuary Bequest

If you wish to leave all or a percentage of the remainder of your estate to American Farmland Trust, after all of your specific bequests to others have been honored, we recommend the following language:

“I give and bequeath to American Farmland Trust, a District of Columbia nonprofit corporation, having its principal offices at 1200 18th Street, N.W., Suite 800, Washington, D.C. 20036, all/____% of the residue of my estate.”

Contingent Bequest

If you wish to leave something to AFT only if other named beneficiaries should not survive you, we recommend the following language:

“If the above-named beneficiary/ies should predecease me, then I bequeath to American Farmland Trust, a District of Columbia nonprofit corporation, having its principal offices at 1200 18th Street, N.W., Suite 800, Washington, D.C. 20036, such property of my estate as had been intended for such
person(s).”

We encourage you to talk with your legal and financial advisors about your estate plans.
