Best Management Practices (BMPs) are designed to save farmers money
while maintaining optimal yields. But with real income on the line,
farmers can be reluctant to try new practices. Income guarantees help
ease the transition. The BMP Challenge combines guarantees, in-field
comparison, and technical assistance to address risk and increase
adoption of nutrient and tillage management practices.
These videos, presented by American Farmland Trust and Agflex Inc.,
provide information for crop advisors to prepare for 2012 crop
season demonstrations. Our hope is to provide key details to prospective
advisors in a convenient and efficient format and to subsequently boost
enrollment.
Jim Baird, Mid-Atlantic Director at American Farmland Trust, discusses the enrollment process for the 2012 BMP Challenge in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
BMP Project Programs include Nutrient BMP Challenge and Reduced Tillage BMP Challenge. Enrollment forms for each are available on the BMP Challenge website.
