Washington, D.C., July 30, 2010 —Mitch Hunter has joined the American Farmland Trust (AFT) as Federal Agriculture and Environmental Policy Analyst. He will be working closely with Dennis Nuxoll, AFT’s Managing Director of Federal Policy, on issues such as the 2012 Farm Bill, clean energy and climate legislation.

Hunter worked with Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), covering agriculture and environmental policy. He comes to AFT from Harvard University’s Office of Sustainability where he helped implement a greenhouse gas reduction goal for the school.

Hunter’s interest in agriculture stems from childhood summers spent on his grandparents’ farm in Illinois. He has also worked on western ranches, including the Deep Springs College Ranch. Hunter attended Deep Springs College before transferring to Harvard University. There, he completed his degree in Government, and wrote his senior thesis on the farm bill.

Mitch Hunter can be reached at 202-378-1220, or via e-mail at mhunter@farmland.org.
