Washington, D.C., December 11, 2008 —Len Doran has joined the staff of American Farmland Trust (AFT) as the Director of Major Gifts. Producers and conservationists founded AFT in 1980 to work with communities and individuals to protect land, plan for agriculture and keep the land healthy. AFT is currently leading two comprehensive campaigns: Agriculture and Environment, focused on the role of agriculture in improving water quality and reducing greenhouse gasses and climate change; and Growing Local, which joins agriculture with sustainable development, saving farmland and supporting the people, enterprises and communities that champion farms, farmers and farmland.
Doran will be working with major donors to engage them in ways that are fulfilling to their philanthropic goals, as well as to AFT’s campaign objectives. “I will be supporting the mission and vision of AFT, by building and securing the appropriate financial support that will turn AFT’s goals into reality,” says Doran. “I am very excited at the opportunity to employ my fundraising abilities toward the very valuable mission of AFT.”
Doran holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from St. John’s University; a master’s in Education Administration from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico; a master’s in education from The American University in Educational Psychology; and a doctorate (ABD) from The American University in Higher Education Administration and Educational Psychology.
