American Farmland Trust Adds Jason Ritz As Director Of Finance
Jennifer Morrill: 301-792-6238 (cell), jmorrill@farmland.org
Washington, D.C., December 2, 2008 —Jason Ritz has joined the staff of American Farmland Trust (AFT) as the Director of Finance. Farmers and conservationists founded AFT in 1980 to work with communities and individuals to protect land, plan for agriculture and keep the land healthy. AFT is currently leading two comprehensive campaigns: Agriculture & Environment, focused on the role of agriculture in improving water quality and reducing greenhouse gasses and climate change; and Growing Local, which joins agriculture with efforts to save farmland and support the people, enterprises and communities that champion farms, farmers and farmland.

Ritz’s initial focus will be completing the annual audit and the 990 tax returns. Then he will begin his long-term duties to provide additional oversight and support to the finance department. “I believe my past experience will bring a new perspective to AFT,” says Ritz. “I plan to find ways to increase efficiency, provide more oversight and work to decrease overall costs.”

Ritz holds a bachelor’s degree in business studies and finance from The George Washington University. Previously, Ritz was Assistant to the Controller of Empower America; Client Accounting Coordinator for Skadden Arps Law Firm; and, most recently, Controller at the Intelligent Transportation Society of America.

Jason Ritz can be reached at jritz@farmland.org, or via telephone at
(202) 378-1267. Ritz works in AFT’s Washington, D.C. office.
