The National Agricultural Landscapes Forum is a collaborative effort between the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), American Farmland Trust (AFT) and Farm Foundation NFP. It is part of a broader effort by NRCS to gather public input to inform the Resources Conservation Act process being conducted by NRCS and nine other USDA agencies: Agricultural Research Service, Economic Research Service, Rural Development, Farm Service Agency, Forest Service, Risk Management Agency, National Institute for Food and Agriculture, Animal and Plant Inspection Service, and the National Agricultural Statistics Service.
American Farmland Trust is the nation’s leading conservation organization dedicated to saving America’s farm and ranch land, promoting environmentally sound farming practices and supporting a sustainable future for farms. Since its founding in 1980 by a group of farmers and citizens concerned about the rapid loss of farmland to development, AFT has helped save millions of acres of farmland from development and led the way for the adoption of conservation practices on millions more.
Farm Foundation NFP serves as a catalyst for sound public policy by providing objective information to foster deeper understanding of issues shaping the future for agriculture, food systems and rural regions. It does not lobby or advocate. Farm Foundation has a 78-year commitment to objectivity, fostering the constructive debate that is essential to sound public policy development in a democracy.
USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service works with landowners through conservation planning and assistance to benefit the soil, water, air, plants and animals for productive lands and healthy ecosystems. Working at the local level—in field offices at USDA Service Centers in nearly every county in the nation—NRCS employees understand local resource concerns and challenges, resulting in conservation solutions that last.
