Director of Institutional Giving

Mary RayMary Ray joined American Farmland Trust in 2008 to direct AFT’s efforts to generate support from foundations, building long-term funding partnerships with organizations that share AFT’s mission. In the past year, she has also assumed oversight of AFT’s fund-raising efforts involving corporations and government sources. She sees AFT as a much-needed leader in the nation’s efforts to ensure farmland protection, promote environmental stewardship on working lands, encourage smart growth and advance state and national policies to further these aims.

As a Certified Fundraising Executive, Ray has served as director of development or foundation and corporate giving at the Global Child Nutrition Foundation, Management Sciences for Health, the International Center for Research on Women, the Centre for Development and Population Activities, and Teikyo Post University. She has served on the board of directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Metro D.C. chapter and as chair of the board of Help the Afghan Children.

She holds a B.A. in French and English and an M.A. in French, both from Marquette University.
