Major Gifts Officer

Jen SmallJennifer Small joined American Farmland Trust in 2007, focusing on philanthropy and external relations in New York and on promoting planned giving nationwide. She and her husband Michael Yezzi own and manage Flying Pigs Farm in Upstate New York, where they raise rare breeds of pigs outdoors on pasture and in their woods, along with laying hens and pasture-raised chickens for meat. They sell their farm products to New York City chefs, at New York City’s Greenmarket, and online. They purchased their farmland in the mid-1990s to prevent its development, and a portion of the land is now protected with a permanent easement.

Jen and her husband also run “Farm Camp at Flying Pigs Farm,” a program that educates adult professionals in the food service, food media and food advocacy sectors about Northeast farm production and distribution. They also co-founded the original “Farm to Chef Express” in 2003 with assistance from Cornell Cooperative Extension and the New York State’s Department of Agriculture and Markets.

Small previously raised funds for Williams College, Emma Willard School, Union College and the University of Massachusetts. She holds a B.A. from Union College and a Masters of Public Health from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
