senior Director of Government Relations

As Senior Director of Government Relations, Dennis Nuxoll oversees the implementation and day-to-day management of AFT’s government relations activity.  

Nuxoll previously worked as a legislative assistant for Senator Max Baucus (D-MT), where he drafted policy positions and helped craft speeches on domestic and foreign agricultural issues. Prior to his work on Capitol Hill, Nuxoll was a Senior Associate for Stewart and Stewart Law Offices, where he handled international trade matters for clients as well as conducted government affairs projects involving international trade legislation. While completing his studies, Nuxoll interned for the Office of the United States Trade Representative, Asia and the Pacific Section, and the Department of Justice, Civil Division, Commercial Litigation Branch. 

Nuxoll attended the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, School of Law, where he received a J.D. degree and completed his undergraduate studies at Duke University, majoring in Political Science, History and Comparative Area Studies. Nuxoll has also co-authored numerous articles on such topics as the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) dispute resolution system, Latin America in the global economy and the WTO’s impact on farmers worldwide.
